A monitor was left looking water-damaged overnight because one boyfriend decided to be "super helpful" with disinfectant spray.
It started with something almost invisible: a spot of dust on the screen. Before bed, the poster noticed it and said, "I'll have to clean that when I wake up." That was supposed to be the end of it. A tiny housekeeping note. A task for the morning.
Instead, the boyfriend took it upon himself to act.
Sometime during the night, he cleaned the monitor on his own, apparently aiming to be "super helpful." The next morning, the poster woke up and found the screen in rough shape, looking as if it had been water damaged. Whatever had been done, it was obvious enough to raise immediate questions.
When asked what he used, he didn't dodge the issue. He admitted he had "drenched the entire thing in cleaner."
That explained the look of the monitor, but not the confidence behind the move. According to the poster, this wasn't even the first time basic cleaning had come up. They said they've had to teach him how to properly clean things before, which made this latest incident all the more baffling. Dust was one thing. Deliberately soaking a piece of technology in disinfectant spray was another.
The poster's frustration came through in the bluntest possible way: technology shouldn't be drowned in disinfectant spray.
What had begun as a single dusty spot ended with a damaged monitor and a morning conversation about why screens are not meant to be hosed down with cleaner. The boyfriend had tried to help without being asked, but the result was a screen that looked ruined and a reminder that some objects need a lighter touch than others.
