THE SLEEPOVER SLOW BURN

At a dorm party, a sleepover and hours of conversation snowball into escalating misreads and lingering tension when two people struggle to interpret each other's signals.

Was he overthinking it, or should he have moved sooner?

He let a girl crash at his place after a party, spent the night talking, and then watched the moment slip into something awkward he could not name.

The poster met her at a party recently, and the night ended with her sleeping over at his place. Nothing physical happened. In his own words, they "just hung out and talked, literally nothing else happened." But that did not make the situation feel simple. If she came back to his place, did that mean she was into him? And if it did, why hadn't he made a move?

He didn't. Part of the reason was uncertainty. He wasn't sure what he wanted, and he couldn't tell whether he was actually reading any signals from her or just imagining them. He said he had "little to no experience in this kind of situation," which left him second-guessing everything. Instead of leaning in, he waited.

Then she came back to his dorm again.

Once more, nothing happened.

By then, the story had already started to turn sideways. They had met, hung out, slept over, and then met again without either of them crossing the line into anything more. After that, the poster saw her at two other parties. That should have been a natural reset. Instead, each encounter seemed to make things worse. The vibe had gone from potentially flirty to quietly tense.

Now, when they're in the same room, they barely talk. He can't tell whether she is ignoring him or just keeping things casual. He says he has been too wishy-washy about what he wanted, which may have left the whole thing stranded in awkward silence. He also thinks there may not be anything he can do now to change where things stand.

The whole situation has been reduced to one blunt question: "Am I cooked?"

It started with a party, a sleepover, and a lot of talking. It ended with two more parties, a second dorm visit, and a connection that never quite became anything at all.
