BARROOM BETRAYAL

At their regular bar, a girlfriend watches her boyfriend drift away with their drinks, then vanish to chat with strangers, prompting her to ask online if she was wrong.

The night turned awkward the moment her boyfriend vanished with her drink and then snapped, "I'm at the bar, are you blind?"

They were at their usual bar, the kind of place where they were regulars and usually sat right at the counter. There was live music that night, and when some of the poster's friends showed up, she mentioned it to her boyfriend. He made a point of suggesting, "let's go sit with your friends."

These weren't strangers. They'd hung out with those friends many times before, and the group settled in without any issue. Everything seemed normal.

Then, for no clear reason, the boyfriend got up and moved to another table where a bunch of older guys were sitting. The poster followed, assuming they were still spending the night together. She sat down with him because, as she saw it, they were there as a pair.

A little later, he said he was going to get drinks and would be right back.

So she waited.

He never came back.

Instead, she found herself sitting with a group of random guys she didn't really know while her boyfriend was gone far longer than he'd said. Confused, she texted him and asked if he was coming back. His reply came fast and sharp: "I'm at the bar, are you blind?"

That's when it became clear he had gone to the bar and started talking to other people without saying anything to her.

The poster had to get up and go find him.

When she asked why he didn't come back with the drink like he said he would, he acted like the question itself was absurd. She was left embarrassed, stuck trying to figure out why he'd suggested sitting with her friends, then left her at a table with strangers, then brushed off the whole thing when she asked about the missing drink.

By the time she turned to the internet, her question was simple: was she wrong for asking him why he didn't come back?
