LATE-NIGHT KITCHEN TENSION
Freshly moved into her own home, a 23-year-old returns late, fires up real meals, and clashes with downstairs neighbors who demand silence amid late-night banging.
Was she being rude, or just using her kitchen?

She came home at 10 p.m. to cook dinner in her own kitchen, and her downstairs neighbors answered with banging from below.
The 23-year-old poster had "recently moved into my own home," and her routine was simple: work late, get home late, and make food as soon as she walked in. "I work until 10 pm," she explained, and because "there's not a way to cook food in my work place," she brought snacks to get through the shift. But once she was home, she wanted more than a snack. "I want a proper meal," she said.
The problem was the flat below her.
She lives in a top-floor apartment, and the neighbors underneath her keep "music on late." So when she gets back, she heads straight to the kitchen and starts cooking while also getting changed. That's when the complaints start. "They keep banging their ceilings /my floor," she wrote, because they want her to be quiet.
She says she's already careful. "I never bang or do anything loud," she said, because she knows she gets home late and doesn't want to disturb anyone. But she also drew a line at one thing: "I refuse to walking around on my tiptoes in my home for their sake."
That's the conflict. The poster wants to use her kitchen after work, make a real meal, and move around normally in the home she just bought or moved into. Her neighbors want silence from above, even while playing music late below. The banging keeps happening, and she's left wondering whether her late-night cooking is too much.
By the end of her post, the question is blunt: if she's home, in her own place, and not being loud on purpose, is she actually the problem?
"AITA?"
