The German Shepherd heard the alarm and was up before the human even was.
For one poster, that wasn't the strange part. The dog had already learned the first cue: "My GSD knows my alarm sound means I'm getting up."
Then came the more specific trick. The poster explained that the dog had also been "pavloved" to the sound of them using an Xbox controller to turn the alarm off. That tiny click and tap didn't just mean the alarm was ending. To the dog, it meant something bigger: the human was getting up and getting ready for bed.
So the sequence was all sound and reflex. Alarm. Controller. Recognition.
And then the payoff: "He instantly jumps up ready to escort me."
The image is simple and oddly charming, a German Shepherd hearing a familiar sound and immediately springing into action, as if the nightly routine has its own command code. The alarm tells him morning is coming. The Xbox controller tells him bedtime is, too. The dog doesn't need a spoken order. He's already learned the soundtrack.
