The cat was screaming from almost half a kilometre away, and the noise was bad enough that someone got off the couch and went looking for it.
That's how the poster says they ended up stumbling into a cat fight: a small cat in a standoff with a bigger male cat, with visible scratches already on him. The post described the moment plainly: "I heard him screaming from almost half a kilometre away and instinctively got up from my couch and went searching for the crying noises."
When the poster finally found the source, the little cat was still on the spot, locked in place with the larger one. The poster called out to him. Instead of bolting in the other direction, the cat made a beeline straight for the human and ducked behind them for cover.
That was the turning point. The poster says, "Called to him and he immediately ran and took cover behind me." From there, the cat didn't just calm down and wander off. He followed the poster home.
The post's headline says it all: "This lil guy followed me home after I intervened him getting attacked by a bigger cat." What started as a noisy confrontation outside turned into a new housemate by the end of the day.
Five months later, the update was simple and happy. The cat had finished all his vaccinations and was thriving in his new place. The poster wrote, "5 months later and all vaccinations completed he's now the best cat ever!"
From a cry heard across the distance to a cat hiding behind a stranger, the story moved fast. One rescue, one homecoming, and then five months of settling in later, the little cat was no longer the one being chased.
