The cat had been discovered tucked into the engine bay, an unexpected stowaway among the machinery. The poster did not describe a long chase or a dramatic extraction. They simply said the cat was there, and now the question was what to call him.

The poster then added a small but telling detail: they only knew "a very little bit of car parts and such." That made sense, they explained, because their actual trade was aircraft engine mechanic. In other words, this was not someone who lived and breathed car terminology. They had just enough familiarity with mechanical parts to know there might be a better name in the vocabulary somewhere, if they could only find it.

So they turned to the community with a very specific request. They wanted niche part names, or car names, that could work for the cat. "I was wondering if you all had any niche part/car names I could possibly name him," they wrote. The post wasn't asking for medical advice, rescue instructions, or what to do about the engine bay. The cat was already found. The immediate mission had become something a little lighter: picking a name that fit a creature discovered in a place meant for metal, belts, and heat.
