Fresh underwear after a morning shower turned into a cheating accusation, a phone search, and a 3 a.m. raid.

The poster says their partner, 45, was furious over a routine so ordinary it barely seemed worth mentioning: they get up early, put on clean underwear, take the dog out for a 20-minute walk, come home, shower, and then change into another pair. No underwear at night, just one pair for the walk and another after the wash.

That was enough to set off alarms in the partner's head.

It started with a jab after a load of washing. The poster's underwear had apparently slipped from their arms and landed on the floor, and the partner fired off a message: "you left your spare knickers on the floor you take to work.....hilarious"

From there, the suspicion only grew. The poster explained the reason for the change was simple: after the shower, it "just doesn't feel right to put them on again." The partner decided that explanation was exactly the problem. In his telling, fresh underwear could only mean one thing, the poster wanted to be "fresh for work and the men there."

The poster pushed back and pointed out the routine made sense in context: they do not wear underwear to bed, so morning underwear is necessary for the dog walk, then it comes off again after the shower. But the partner was not convinced. He escalated from raised eyebrows to certainty, saying, "no one else on the planet would put fresh underwear on after a shower if the ones they were wearing had only been worn for a short time" and adding, "And people that do do that, only do it for one reason.....to cheat."

Then came the phone fight.

In a later update, the partner demanded to look through the poster's phone. The poster handed it over and followed him as he sat down, then asked to see his phone in return. He said he had nothing to hide, but argued that because the poster was the one who needed to "prove" something, he did not need to hand his over.

He gave the poster's phone back, but the story did not stop there. He later said he would wait until they were asleep, and at 3 a.m. he came in and took the phone anyway.

The poster also said they do 99% of the washing, so extra water or laundry loads were not an issue. And while going commando for the dog walk might have been a separate discussion, the poster said that would have been a problem too, because of the partner's view of that as "easy access."
