He flew 7,000 kilometers to meet the girl who had spent months telling him, "I want you to be mine", and the first night in Medellín ended with him alone at dawn, feeling used, ridiculous, and humiliated.
The man at the center of the story says the whole thing began as an online connection with a 23-year-old woman from Colombia. He was 29. They started talking in October 2025 and kept it going for more than four months, sometimes spending four to five hours on the phone at a time. The conversations weren't casual. He says there was real emotional closeness, and jealousy too. She would tell him, "I want you just for myself."
But there was always the same problem: they had never met. She lived 7,000 kilometers away, and the uncertainty started to eat at him. So he did the thing that turns a screen into a plane ticket. He bought the ticket and went to Medellín.
The moment he arrived, something felt wrong. She was slower to reply. Colder. Less interested. Still, they agreed to meet for dinner. He got into an Uber at 8 p.m., took a shot of whiskey beforehand, and greeted her with a kiss on the cheek. He says she was extremely beautiful, and he tried to keep the night light.
It did not go that way.
In the Uber, he tried to hold her hand. He says her reaction felt like "shaking hands with a corpse." At dinner, she barely asked him anything. When he leaned in for a small kiss, she pulled away and told him to "calm down." She also complained about the food.
He paid the bill. Then he suggested a nearby bar, and they stayed there for about an hour and a half. That part, he says, was a little easier. Still, it felt forced. When she finally left, she said she was going home to sleep. He tried to kiss her again, and she pushed his face away.
He ended up alone in Medellín at dawn.
He says she had seen photos of him before and that he looked the same in real life. He had dressed well, stayed in a good mood, and tried to make the night pleasant. He paid for dinner, drinks, and Ubers. She did not thank him or suggest anything for later.
Afterward, he texted her. She answered some messages, but not the last one. He says he didn't understand why she stayed out if she didn't want anything. He also says she had been asking him to visit for more than a month and had told him he was taking too long.
Then came a brief reset. After 24 difficult hours, he met another girl casually. This time the evening felt easy: she was friendly, polite, grateful, showed him beautiful places, and the whole interaction felt natural, intimate, and mutually interested. He says it helped him move on.
Later, the first girl came back with mixed signals. She thanked him and said she had a great time. That led to a long conversation, including audio messages of her crying and saying she cared about him. He told her they should not talk anymore. She asked whether they would see each other if she came to his country. He called the whole exchange "emotional bullshit."
That was the end of it. A definitive goodbye.
