A brain scan photo went missing, and then turned up attached to a fake story that somehow pulled in more than 10 million views.
That was the shock waiting for the poster, who recently discovered that a brain scan image they had shared on a thread about a year ago had been copied and reused by someone else. The photo, the poster said, was lifted out of its original context and pasted onto "some wack story" that was not theirs.
"Not someone stealing my brain scan photo lol," the poster wrote, half laughing and half stunned. They added, "This might be one of the funniest but wtf things that's ever happened to me."
The stolen image had been circulating for a while before the poster even noticed. By the time they found it, the fake version had already blown up. "Someone took my brain scan photo I posted on a thread on here like a year ago and posted some wack story with it that is not mine," they explained. "And it got over 10 million views like omg bro and I just found out about it like wth but lol."
The post framed the whole thing as both absurd and unmistakably wrong. The poster made clear that the viral story was not theirs, and that the photo had originally been theirs to begin with. To help show the mismatch, they pointed out the difference directly: "First pic is the fake story with the photo seconds mine lol😭"
It was a simple before-and-after contrast, but an uncanny one: a personal brain scan image, once shared in one thread, later repurposed for a completely different tale and pushed out to millions of people. The poster's reaction landed somewhere between disbelief and amusement, with the kind of caption that could only come after discovering your own photo has been out in the wild doing a job you never gave it.
And while the fake story raced to 10 million views, the real owner of the scan was left scrolling through the copy, laughing at the sheer weirdness of seeing their own image attached to somebody else's "wack story" like it had always belonged there.
