The battery in this Foreo died, and the manual told the owner to throw the whole device in the garbage.

That was the first surprise. The second was inside the shell: "a regular AAA battery..."

According to the post, the manual does explain how to remove the battery before disposing of the device. But it does not say the battery can be replaced. So the instructions amount to this: open it up, take the battery out, and toss the rest.

The poster called that "so fricking wasteful."

Instead of following the disposal route, the poster replaced the battery anyway. For now, the device is "working for now."

The odd part is how plain the fix turned out to be. A product that came with disposal instructions instead of replacement guidance was hiding something as ordinary as a AAA battery inside. The manual made room for removal, but not for reuse. The poster did the obvious thing the booklet never spelled out: put a fresh battery in and kept it going.
