A single sesame bagel turned a sleepover breakfast into a full-blown fight.

On Sunday night, the poster's son had three friends staying over. With his wife out of town, Monday morning meant breakfast for six people: the poster, the four boys, and the poster's daughter. Instead of cooking, he did what seemed easier and ordered a catering box from a breakfast place the night before.

The box showed up loaded: bagels, three kinds of cream cheese, butter, plus sliced onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes. The poster said there were twelve bagels total, six plain, three onion, three everything, with the restaurant tossing in an extra sesame bagel. On Monday morning, he brought the box home and called everyone downstairs.

The daughter got there first.

She took the sesame bagel and started buttering it.

That was when one of the son's friends noticed it was gone and asked why there were no more sesame bagels. The poster said there was only one, and the daughter had gotten it because she came downstairs first. The boy pushed back immediately. "That wasn't fair," he said. He wanted a sesame bagel, and he kept pressing the issue even after being told there were plenty of bagels and to just take one.

The poster says he shut it down right there.

"I told the kid to stop acting like a brat and eat a bagel or go to school without breakfast."

The boy shot back that he had to be fed and that the poster couldn't call him a brat. The poster answered that he had fed him and couldn't make him eat. The boy still wouldn't budge. According to the poster, he then put a scoop of cream cheese on his napkin and ate it with a butter knife "to prove a point."

The sleepover moved on, but the argument didn't end there.

After pickup, the boy's mom called and asked for the poster's side of the story. She said she couldn't believe he had called her kid a brat and let him go to school hungry, and she said he should have ordered enough food for everyone. The poster said there was plenty left and that the boy had options, including cucumbers with cream cheese. The mom said he still had no right to call the child a brat.

The poster clarified that he only said the boy was acting like a brat.

"She said she was going to talk to my wife when she gets home," he wrote.

"That's a weird threat, but have fun," he added.
