THE WHITE TRAY HAZARD

A white tray on white stairs nearly turned a family home into a slipping hazard, and the person putting it there kept doing it anyway.

The poster says their wife has been setting the tray on the stairs again and again, despite being told to stop. The problem isn't just the placement. It's what the tray is for: she was using it to carry items she planned to take into the toilet room, which she apparently thought was "very good and nice."

But in a house with three kids, the poster says that kind of setup is a problem. The tray sits right on the stairs, where someone could easily miss it. And because it's hard plastic, the danger gets even sharper if a foot lands on it. As the poster put it, "Its hard plastic so if somene steps on it ur gonna go sliding."

The biggest issue, according to the poster, is visibility, or lack of it. The stairs are white. The tray is white. From upstairs, the poster says, it's almost impossible to spot. "Coming from upstairs its actually very hard to see the tray," they wrote, adding that it "Melds in very nicely."

That is exactly why they say the tray keeps becoming a moving target in the house: one moment it's sitting there, and the next someone is stepping down without seeing it. The poster says they've already asked their wife to stop, but the tray keeps returning to the same spot on the stairs.

What makes the situation so pointed is how ordinary it looks at first glance. A tray. A staircase. A house with kids. But in this case, the tray is not tucked away or out of the way. It's sitting where feet land, on a surface that makes it hard to notice, in a home where people are constantly moving up and down.

For the poster, that's the whole issue: the tray may be useful to the person carrying toilet-cleaning items, but on the white stairs, it becomes something else entirely, a thing that could send someone sliding.
