THE NUT CAKE FEUD
A teen's 18th birthday dinner ignites a nut allergy dispute when a guest insists on bringing a nut cake, unleashing a heated clash over safety and courtesy.

The birthday cake was already finished, and then the host saw the nuts.
A 17-year-old girl was planning her 18th birthday dinner at her house with her closest friends. It was supposed to be simple: "It's jsut a dinner with my closest friends." She said guests could bring food if they wanted, while she handled barbecue and ordered pizza.
Then her friend Ryan asked if his girlfriend, Emily, could come too. The poster agreed. Ryan would be leaving early anyway, and Emily offered to make food. The host told her that would be nice, but she didn't have to.
To keep everyone on the same page, the poster made a group chat and sent the details: when to come, what to wear, and one very important warning. She told everyone to "triple check your food doesn't have nuts and to be aware of cross contaminating," because one of the friends had a serious nut allergy. Emily responded with a thumbs up.
Later, Emily messaged again. She said she had made a cake. The poster asked to see a picture.
What she got back was a cake with nuts in it.
Emily admitted it had nuts, but said there weren't "not a lot" of them and that the allergic friend could just not eat the cake. The poster immediately said, "I'd rather she just didn't bring it."
Emily did not take that well. She said she had spent time making it, so "she's bringing it or she isn't coming." The poster answered that Emily was not coming. She had been clear about the allergy and the cross-contamination risk, and she was not allowing a nut cake at the party.
That set off a bigger fight. Emily said it was disrespectful to disinvite her and argued that because she was Ryan's girlfriend, "if he's going she's going." The poster shot back that it was her party and Emily was acting like a child.
Emily stopped texting. Ryan called next, telling the poster she was "i was being a massive dick" and that Emily had spent ages on the cake. The poster answered that she didn't care "if it took her two whole weeks to make the goddamn cake," because nuts were the one thing she had said could not be brought. She also called out their "incompetent of reading and comprehension" and asked if Emily didn't know any other cake recipe. Ryan called her a bitch and hung up.
After that, Ryan told people that he and Emily were not attending because the poster had called them names and rejected Emily's cake. Some friends said it was slack to let Emily make something and then uninvite her because of what she brought and the effort she put into it. The poster said only three people were on her side, including the friend with the nut allergy.
In later edits, she clarified that the cake was more of a spongey "treat" cake than a frosting birthday cake, that she was a girl, that the allergy friend was a guy, and that the allergy could be airborne and was serious.
