GRANDPA'S WEDDING CRISIS
On the eve of a wedding, a dying grandfather forces a rift between a wife and her daughter as family duties clash with grief.

The wedding was tomorrow, and the bride's grandfather was dying in a hospital bed.
Just one day before the ceremony, the family's plans blew apart. The wife's dad had been frail ever since he was moved into a home, but then "it took a turn for the worse." According to the poster, "They don't think he will make." The wife's sister, who had been helping arrange the trip, said "it looks bad" and that she was no longer coming up for the wedding.
The original plan had been simple enough: the grandfather would fly up for the wedding today, with the sister helping him. Instead, he was hospitalized yesterday and was "just getting worse." The wife was distraught. She decided to fly down that night to be with him.
The poster told her to go. He said he would FaceTime her into the ceremony and anything else she needed to see, and that she should "go be with your dad before he dies." He also said she would be miserable at the wedding anyway and probably could not "put on a happy face and pretend everything was okay."
Then the couple called their daughter to explain.
It went badly.
The daughter did not take the news well and called her mom "a lot of names." Since then, the wife had been crying nonstop. The daughter kept calling both phones, and the arguments escalated until the poster finally snapped back at her, telling her she was being "self centered and cruel" because her mom could not make it to the wedding.
He told her that her father was dying and all she cared about was her "big day." He said, "I didn't raise her to not have any empathy." The daughter shot back that was "not fair." He answered, "I told her it was." He also told her to apologize to her mother.
The daughter wasn't finished. She told him, "You shouldn't come to the wedding if mom isn't there."
Meanwhile, the wife was still wrecked by the sudden change. The poster said he was supposed to drive her to the airport in a few hours.
In an edit, he clarified why she was leaving: "he is dying," and she wanted to see her father "one last time before he is dead."
In another update, he added that they have four kids total, the dying man is the daughter's grandfather on the wife's side, and the wife's mother died seven years ago.
