BROWN LABUBU FEUD
Two kids swap rare Labubus, sparking a feud among their parents who twist a simple trade into a cash grab, revealing simmering family tensions and hidden motives.

The fight started with a Labubu, a Christmas gift, and a brown "secret" that suddenly turned into $250.
"Throwaway because family is on Reddit," the poster wrote before laying out the mess. Over Christmas, the poster's 12-year-old daughter, Sofia, and her 6-year-old cousin, Martina, each got blind-box Labubus from their aunt Sara. Sofia opened a pink one. Martina opened a brown one.
Martina wanted the pink Labubu immediately. Sofia already had a pink one in mind and had been hoping for the brown one, so the girls made a simple swap. "They traded, both girls were happy, and that was that....or so I thought," the poster wrote.
Then the adults found out what the brown one supposedly was.
At some point later, Martina's parents, Maria and Jose, heard from someone that the brown Labubu was a rare "secret" version that could sell for more than $250. Once that information landed, the mood changed fast. Maria and Jose called and demanded the girls switch back. They wanted Sofia to return the brown Labubu right away, even though they lived an hour away and it was already 8 p.m.
The poster pushed back and asked the obvious question: did Martina actually want the brown one back?
Maria and Jose said that was not "the point."
As the argument went on, Jose admitted why he wanted the toy back so badly: someone was willing to pay him $225 for the brown Labubu and give Martina the pink one she wanted. That changed the entire fight from a kid-to-kid trade into a cash grab in the poster's eyes.
The poster refused to force Sofia to undo the swap. Sofia had not pressured Martina, the poster said, and both girls had been happy with the trade. Sofia knew the brown one was rare in the sense that it was harder to find in the boxes, but she had no idea it had resale value. Martina, meanwhile, had not wanted the brown one at first. From the poster's perspective, Maria and Jose were trying to take it back so they could sell it.
That did not go over well.
Maria and Jose got angry and accused the poster of being unfair and of taking advantage of a 6-year-old. Then Jose escalated further and called the poster a "Manipulative B\*\*\*h" on the phone.
Sara, the aunt who gave the Labubus in the first place, declined to step in. She called it "stupid parent drama" and said she was staying out of it.
In later edits, the poster clarified that Jose's insult was directed at the poster, not said to Sofia's face, and that the poster and their wife would address it. The poster also added that Sofia was trying to collect the full Labubu set, had wanted the brown one for that reason, and had never planned to sell it. The family, the poster said, is in Australia, and Maria and Jose are not in desperate need of money.
