THE EMPTY WALL
A homeowner weighs a blank-wall bedroom TV, balancing sleep hygiene against comfort, as a flood of online opinions tests the wisdom of installing a screen.
Keep the bedroom wall empty or add the screen?

A giant blank wall was tempting one homeowner toward an old-fashioned question: should a TV go in the primary bedroom or not?
"Do people still put tvs in their primary bedrooms?" the poster asked while redesigning the house. The room in question, they said, had "soo big" a wall, and adding a television would be "easy." The idea wasn't just about convenience. It was also about looks. The poster said they thought it "would make sense aesthetically," enough to make the setup feel natural in the space.
There was one obvious snag: sleep hygiene. The poster knew the concern. "I understand the sleep hygiene thing," they wrote, laying out the usual argument against screens in bed. But they didn't seem especially shaken by it. "I'm not super worried about it," they added, explaining that they don't watch TV very much anyway and are "on my phone a lot as it is."
Then came the practical case for the bedroom screen. The poster said they would use it "a lot when sick," especially during what they described as their annual flu-season stretch. "It would make sense aesthetically and I would use a lot when sick.. which is an annual thing for me during flu season lol," they wrote. In other words: the TV wasn't just for lounging, it was for those miserable days when getting out of bed feels like too much work.
But the question didn't stay theoretical for long. After the responses started rolling in, the poster changed course. In one edit, they came back with a short update: "EDIT: I am overwhelmed with the responses and appreciate it LOL. I have decided not to add one."
A second edit followed, even more direct. "EDIT 2: appreciate it guys .. I get it LOL," they wrote, acknowledging the flood of opinions and signaling that the debate was over.
So the big empty wall stayed empty. What began as a simple design question, whether bedroom TVs are still a thing, ended with the poster backing away from the idea after hearing from everyone else.
