A Siberian Husky died Tuesday morning after a ruptured stomach left her too damaged to save.
The dog had first been taken to the hospital on Saturday night, and the news was grim almost immediately. The poster says the staff warned that "she would likely not make it" because she was already in really bad condition. By Tuesday morning, the decision was made to put her down. The rupture was in an area that could not be fixed with surgery. She was also suffering from anemia, dehydration, and high levels of bilirubin.
What made the whole thing so hard to understand was how suddenly it seemed to happen. Just a week earlier, the poster says, the husky had been "in great health," still "running, chasing squirrels and eating perfectly well." Then, overnight, everything changed.
The answer came at a second hospital, where better care was available. There, the staff found "small dog toys in her stomach." That detail snapped the case into focus for the poster. The husky was large, and the poster says they "never gave her small toys due to her size."
Instead, they say they had noticed their neighbors had thrown dog toys into their yard. The poster believes the neighbors' kids were the ones tossing them over. No one at home had given the husky those toys, they say, but the dog ate them anyway.
According to the poster, that led directly to the stomach rupture that killed her. They wrote, "My dog ate the dog toys and that ruptured her stomach."
Now the poster wants to take the neighbor to court. They say they want to sue for negligence and animal abuse.
