CHIVES UNDER JUDGMENT

An ongoing experiment follows a poster who chops a couple of chives daily, then escalates to a YouTube video and a plea for critique of the technique.

Keep critiquing the chive cut, or call it done?

On day 38 of a strange little experiment, a Reddit poster was still waiting for strangers to declare a couple of chives "perfect."

The title laid out the entire routine in one breath: "Cutting a couple of chives almost every day until this reddit says they're perfect. Day 38." No mystery about the task itself, just the slow grind of repetition, day after day, with Reddit cast as judge.

Then came the update. The poster said they had recorded a video, but it ran too long for Reddit. So they did what the site would not allow: they made a YouTube video instead.

"hey guys I recorded this video, it was to long for reddit so I made a YouTube video for it," the post said.

There was still one more hurdle. The poster wasn't even sure whether Reddit would permit the link. "I don't know if reddit will let me link the video or not but I have it linked below," they wrote.

And after all that setup, the day count, the filming, the platform switch, the uncertainty about the link, the ask was short and blunt: "Please critique the cutting form."

That was the whole post's mission. Not a recipe, not a reveal, just another entry in a long-running challenge to cut a couple of chives almost every day until the internet decides the technique is perfect. Day 38 arrived with a video, a workaround, and a request for judgment on the way the chives were cut.
