CHIVES REPOST APOLOGY

Day 32 of the chive project came with an apology: the same pile of chives had been posted twice.

The title on the Reddit thread laid it out bluntly, "Cutting a couple of chives every day until this Reddit says they're perfect. Day 32 APOLOGY", and the post opened with a confession. The author said they had to "come out and apologize for post the same pile of chives twice."

What happened was simple enough. The day before, they had car problems and couldn't get out to cut fresh chives. But instead of saying there were no chives that day, they reposted the old ones. "I didn't want to give you guys another chiveless day," they wrote.

That choice is what they were apologizing for. They admitted it "would have been better to just be honest and say no chives rather than try and lie," and added that it "goes against the whole point of the posts." The entire joke of the project was that it was supposed to be a daily run of cut chives, tracked until Reddit decided they were perfect. Reusing the same bundle broke that rule.

The post didn't stop at the apology. The author thanked the community for calling it out and "holding me accountable for my actions." Then came the next twist: they invited the subreddit to decide the punishment.

"The most upvoted punishment that is REASONABLE will be my punishment," they said, drawing one line clearly. Nothing illegal. Nothing expensive. But extra chive cutting was on the table, along with anything else they'd have to keep doing for the rest of the posts.

So the thread turned into a public sentencing of sorts, all over a repeated pile of greens. The apology ended the way it began, with the author promising the mistake wouldn't happen again: "I again apologize and will ensure this never happens again."
