Nobody came to the "fun outing for work" after the poster booked a Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for it.
The post first appeared on Reddit's mildly infuriating subreddit, where the original poster said they were "mildly infuriated" that no one showed up to the work event they had planned. The outing was set up as a full-day Saturday affair, stretching from 11 in the morning until 9 at night, a long window for something described, in the poster's own words, as a "fun outing for work."
But when the day arrived, the attendance list was empty.
That was the whole complaint: the outing had been organized, the time had been set, and nobody came. The post didn't survive long after that. It was later deleted, but not before the comments section turned on the poster hard. According to the brief that followed the thread, commenters eviscerated them before the post disappeared.
The details that remained were blunt. A Saturday. A ten-hour block. A work event billed as fun. And a total no-show.
The mismatch between the plan and the reaction was what gave the post its friction. The poster framed the empty outing as a source of frustration, but the responses suggested readers saw the setup very differently. Whatever the original intent, the thread did not land as a sympathetic tale of disappointment. By the time the post was removed, the conversation around it had already taken over.
What was left was a simple internet snapshot: someone tried to organize a long Saturday "fun outing for work," nobody appeared, and the backlash came fast enough to help push the post off the site entirely.
