CHIHUAHUA TOOK THE BED

One afternoon nap was all it took for a Chihuahua to go from crate life to bed privileges.

The question started simply enough: "Yay or Nay to Dogs Sleeping in Bed with you?" But the poster wasn't just polling for fun. They wanted the full split-screen from other dog owners, who shares a bed, who doesn't, what makes it work, what makes it impossible. "I'd love to hear about your sleeping arrangements with your dogs," they wrote. "Do you share your bed with them? What made you decide to allow/not allow it?" Then came the follow-up that made the post feel less like a survey and more like a confession: for those who do, what are the benefits and challenges? For those who don't, what factors influenced the decision?

The poster's own answer was already settled.

"I personally let my Chihuahua sleep in bed with me bc he is such a snuggler and likes to burrow for warmth," they explained. At first, though, the setup was very different. When the dog first came home, he slept in a crate for a few months. That lasted until a couple of afternoon naps changed the arrangement completely.

The detail was simple, but decisive: after a few shared naps, "I was hooked."

From there, the Chihuahua graduated from crate to cover. He liked warmth, he liked burrowing, and the bed apparently suited him better than anything else. The poster's other dog, though, kept a very different routine. Their heeler has no interest in the same arrangement. She prefers her own donut bed and is, in the poster's words, "meh" about the human bed.

So the household split into two very different sleeping camps: one tiny dog curled in close, tucked under blankets; one heeler happily off in her own round bed, not particularly invested in joining the action.

That left the original question hanging in the open for everyone else: bed-sharing with dogs, yes, no, or somewhere in between? The poster had already made their choice. The Chihuahua had made it for them, one nap at a time.
