"Finally somewhere I can shame my officiant," the poster wrote after one woman in a beach-themed dress walked into a wedding and ruined the photos.

The couple lived in a small town where civil marriages were handled by the municipal office, but they were far from family. So they made a quiet decision: they would not invite anyone. "We decided not to invite anyone as it was only fair if we couldn't invite everyone," the poster said. The ceremony would be small, private, and brief, just the couple, their 6 month old, and the two required witnesses.

But they still wanted the day documented. The wedding took place on their property, and because they hoped to share the photos with the people who couldn't be there, they made sure to note it on the paperwork. "The paperwork asks if there would be a photographer and we checked off yes."

On the day of the ceremony, the municipal officiant arrived. And she did not arrive dressed to blend in.

According to the poster, the officiant was wearing "A blue ocean themed dress with starfish all over it," along with "a hot pink bra with the straps completely visible." It was, the poster said, the opposite of neutral. They had expected something along the lines of pants and a button-up, but instead felt as if "this woman looked like our wedding was a stop on her way to the beach."

The setting made it even worse. The ceremony was "basically in a forest," which meant the officiant's outfit stood out in every shot. In a place full of trees and soft natural colors, she became the brightest thing in frame. The poster said the photos were "absolutely ruined" because "she sticks out like a sore thumb."

What was supposed to be a simple, intimate civil wedding ended with a very specific problem: the only person from the municipality had shown up dressed like she was heading for the shoreline, and she was now permanently in the couple's ceremony album.

The family members who weren't invited never came. The couple got their quiet wedding. They got the photos, too. But alongside the couple, the baby, and the witnesses, there was also the officiant, impossible to miss, bright blue and starfish-covered, right in the middle of the frame.
