BARKING NOTE MYSTERY

A neighbor's dog complaint landed on a door where there was no dog.

The poster lives alone and says they do not have a dog at all. Still, a handwritten note appeared on the apartment door, accusing the resident of an issue with barking. The timing made it even stranger: the poster says they are gone more than 12 hours a day, so coming home to a note like that was a surprise.

The first question was obvious: if there was no dog, what exactly was the neighbor hearing?

The poster says nothing ever lines up with a barking mystery. "I myself do not hear any barking when I am home during the weekends/at night," they wrote. No late-night yelps. No weekend noise. Nothing from inside the apartment that would explain why a neighbor thought there was a dog there in the first place.

Rather than ignore it, the poster answered the note and sent it back up the chain. "I left it on the door and wrote it was the wrong apartment and notified the office of this," they said. The message was simple: the complaint had the wrong unit, and the building management needed to know.

Then came a quick check with the person living closest by. The next-door neighbor was asked if they had heard anything. Their answer matched the poster's experience. "My next door neighbor says they don't hear anything either?" the poster said, adding another dead end to the puzzle.

So far, every person who should have heard a dog says they haven't. The resident is away most of the day. The apartment is quiet at night. The neighbor beside them hears nothing. The note still showed up anyway.

That left the poster with the same unanswered question they started with: "Not sure what's happening here."

For now, the complaint has been pushed back to the office, and the source of the barking report remains unknown. The apartment has no dog. The neighbors say there's no noise. And somewhere, a note about a barking animal ended up on the wrong door.
