She asked for an open relationship, and eight months later he left her for someone else.

A 25-year-old Reddit poster says she begged her 28-year-old boyfriend for an open arrangement because she'd "got bored with him." He agreed, but with one warning: "if he catches feelings for a partner he's going to leave me for her." That warning became the whole story.

In her first post on December 21, 2022, she came to Reddit asking, "What can I do to win the love of my life back??" She said she didn't want to be single and wanted to "prove to my BF I can be better now!" She also pushed back on the idea that she'd simply fallen out of love. "I can't, he's my entire life," she wrote, describing them as childhood neighbors, elementary school buddies, and high school sweethearts. In comments, she tried to explain that the boredom was about her ADHD, not him: "him as a PERSON has never bored me," she said. "I gave him sex a lot cause I thought it make things better."

Three days later, the update got messier. On December 24, she said she'd been "kicked out of his house last Sunday" and was "excruciatingly miss[ing] him." She claimed he looked happy online with a new partner she believed he'd been cheating with. She said she called him, saw him in public, and he acted like he didn't know her. Then she went to their old place to talk.

That conversation turned hostile. According to her, the new girlfriend "tried to attack" her, and when he turned away, "She MACED me." She also said he was trying to file a restraining order against her. "How can I convince him he's dating a psychopath?" she asked.

In the comments, she insisted the whole thing was supposed to be temporary: "I just wanted us to have no strings attached relationships so when we got back together, the spark would be back." She said, "I can't walk away until this is fixed," and complained, "Our names is on the lease, and he hasn't bought out my half!" She also repeated, "My life's over," saying they'd been talking marriage and children before the breakup. When someone pointed out the obvious, she responded to "WAS dating a psycho" with: "Referring to me?"

By December 31, she said the restraining order had been filed and she was barred from coming within 100 feet of him and his new girlfriend. She said she planned to move back to Arizona and "start over," and added, "Tik Tok is not cool, please delete it."

Two years later, on February 13, 2025, she was still posting. She said her ex and his now-wife "find new ways to live in my head rent free." She complained, "You don't just string me along for 8 months get some new girl who you met through me And then marry her." She added, "This isn't fair, she's living in my home, with something should be my husband." By then, she said, he was still renewing the restraining order.
