A pet-sitting request came in for "3 cats and a human," and the person reading it had never seen anything like it.
The strange booking showed up yesterday, and the poster says it was an immediate first. The request was short, but it landed with enough force to make them stop and look twice: three cats, plus one human. Not a typo they were familiar with, not a normal add-on, but a line that made them say, "I have to say, this is a first for me!"
From there, the situation moved out of the realm of odd and into the realm of concern. The poster said they reported it to River because they were "seriously concerned for their sibling." That detail shifted the request from bizarre to worrying. Whatever the full context was, the poster did not treat it like a routine scheduling hiccup. They took it seriously enough to escalate it.
The response they got back did not match that alarm. Rover support answered with a line that tried to smooth things over: "sometimes we have different expectations from our clients". It was a remarkably casual reply for a request that had already set off concern on the sitter's end. Instead of clarifying what "3 cats and a human" was supposed to mean, the response leaned on the idea that client expectations can vary.
That left the poster still looking at the same question: what exactly was going on here? The request itself remained the center of the story, but now it was paired with a support message that seemed to sidestep the issue rather than address it.
So the poster opened the floor to everyone else, ending with a simple challenge: "What are your thoughts on all this?"
