BALCONY ACCUSATION
A couple moves into their first apartment, only to receive a chilling note from a neighbor watching from a balcony, sparking tension and questions about boundaries.

Eight hours after getting the keys to their first apartment together, a new move-in day turned into a note taped to the door.
The poster and their girlfriend had spent the afternoon hauling in small things, starting around 2 p.m. They made trip after trip from the car to the apartment, careful not to leave any boxes, containers, or clutter in the halls or common areas. It was supposed to be the beginning of a new chapter: "This is our first apartment together (without another roommate)."
For the first part of the move, everything felt normal. Between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., they rode the elevator with two people who were friendly, welcoming them to the building and wishing them luck with the move.
Then, around 6:30 p.m., they went back for the mattress.
This time, things felt different. "We didn't see anyone on the elevator or halls," the poster said. But while moving in the mattress, they noticed a woman on a balcony about five units down, staring straight into their apartment. The woman, who seemed to be in her late 60s, kept watching until they closed the blinds. Then, when they left, they saw her again, still staring at them from a window.
After dinner, they came home and found the message.
A letter had been taped to their door.
The poster did not say exactly what was written in it, but said the note seemed to come from the woman they had seen watching them. They suspect she may have written it, though they don't know why. "I have no idea what she is basing these claims on," the poster said, adding that they don't even pass by her unit when they use the elevator.
Building management reviewed the situation and told them they had broken no rules. They agreed the note was "borderline harassment." The landlord was also apologetic.
The poster said they weren't worried about any consequences from the letter itself. What bothered them was how quickly the day had changed.
What should have been a happy first night in a new place ended with a stranger's accusation on the door and a woman watching from a balcony.
"It really put a damper on what was otherwise a very special day for me and my girlfriend," the poster said.
