The divorce wasn't because she gained weight. It was because she cheated.
A 35-year-old man says he believed he had everything he ever wanted when he married his wife in their late 20s. He says he loved her then, and he loved her after her body changed too. She became plus-sized during pregnancy, he says, and he was still attracted to her. He kept telling her so. She didn't believe it.
According to him, his wife hated what pregnancy had done to her body. She felt ugly, even with his compliments. Over the years, he says, she gained more weight and kept sinking further into self-doubt.
Then, more recently, she cheated.
He says the reason she gave was brutal in its honesty: she felt so low about herself that she wanted to see whether men who "didn't have to love her" would still find her sexy. She wanted proof from strangers, men with no attachment, no obligation, no history. The marriage, in her telling, was no longer enough.
The couple is now getting divorced, and he says he wanted the split to stay as calm as possible. But that plan ran headfirst into his in-laws.
His wife's parents, especially his mother-in-law, believed a very different story. They thought he was leaving his wife because she had gained weight after pregnancy. In their eyes, the divorce looked like punishment for a body that had changed.
So he says he was confronted by them. They pressed him about it, and he told them the truth again: he was not ending the marriage because of her weight. He was ending it because she had cheated.
That answer changed the temperature fast.
Now, he says, his in-laws are giving his wife hell. They are furious with her, and she is miserable. He says he does not want her miserable. He only wanted her parents off his back. But once he corrected their assumption, the blame shifted straight to her.
The whole situation leaves one ugly knot at the center: a wife who wanted outside validation, a husband who says he stayed through the body changes and still got cheated on, and parents who thought they were defending their daughter from a shallow husband, until they learned that wasn't the reason at all.
