A couple's dream home collides with a toxic triangle as a meddling friend provokes phone checks and mounting trust issues, threatening their future.

The pregnancy came first. Then came the house. Then came the phone searches.
In April, a man and his girlfriend, Jen, learned they were expecting a baby. Around the same time, he closed on a house for the two of them to move into once renovations were finished. Their families and friends knew about the pregnancy, including Jen's best childhood friend, Amanda.
He says he had never liked the dynamic between Jen and Amanda, though for years it mostly stayed out of the way. Amanda lived across the country, so the tension never fully had room to grow.
Then Amanda moved back.
After hearing about the pregnancy, she returned to the same hometown as the couple in late May, and according to the poster, "all hell has broke loose."
Jen, he says, had already been self-conscious in the relationship. Amanda allegedly pushed right on those insecurities. The poster described Jen as a "sexy AF woman with amazing curves," but said Amanda fed her anxieties anyway. Before all this, he and Jen had made a point of not tracking each other's locations or digging through each other's phones. They saw that kind of behavior as a red flag.
Amanda changed that.
He says Amanda convinced Jen she should start checking his phone. Jen began doing it regularly. She found nothing.
The poster says he told Jen he was hurt and frustrated, and asked her to distance herself from Amanda. Jen kept rejecting that concern.
About two weeks ago, the phone-checking came up again. Jen asked to go through his phone one more time. This time, he told her "this will be the last time she looks through my phone."
He laid out the terms: if she again saw nothing suspicious, then she needed to agree to counseling and distance herself from Amanda.
Jen agreed. She checked the phone. She found nothing suspicious.
Then she backed out of the deal.
According to the poster, she refused to follow through on counseling or cut back on Amanda. That was the moment he says he decided to leave.
The two were on a month-to-month lease in an apartment while work continued on the house he bought. He moved out and went to stay with a friend. Once the renovations are done, he says he plans to move into the house alone.
Jen has asked him to reconsider. He won't.
Now the fallout is practical as much as personal. The poster says Jen will likely need to move in with her mother, "which is not ideal given the limited space," and he says he feels terrible about that "for my child."
