The fight started with a hot flash and ended with a daughter accusing her mother of being mean for saying no to TikTok.

The mother, 51, was at home when her youngest daughter, 19, filmed her in the middle of a hot flash. The daughter lives with her parents, and by the mother's account, the moment was exactly what it sounds like: sweaty, uncomfortable, and caught on camera. Still, the mother says her tank top stayed on, so "nothing inappropriate was filmed."

Later that same day, the daughter came back with a request. She wanted to post the video on TikTok.

According to the mother, the pitch was simple: "a lot of people will get something out of watching it." The daughter apparently thought the clip would be useful, maybe relatable, maybe even funny. The mother wasn't interested. "I told my daughter no," she said.

That should have been the end of it. It wasn't.

The daughter kept asking. The mother kept refusing. She says she stood firm even as her daughter begged her to change her mind. The video, for the mother, was not something she wanted online. For the daughter, it was apparently a post worth fighting for.

So the daughter tried a different route: she went to her father.

The father, 53, is the mother's husband, and he did not back her up. Instead, he asked her to reconsider. He told her the video was "hot (pun intended)" and insisted it wasn't embarrassing. But the mother still wouldn't budge. "I told him no," she said.

That left the daughter with one final confrontation. After her father told her he couldn't change her mother's mind, the daughter turned back to the mother and said she was being mean to her.

The mother's question was straightforward: was she wrong to stop her daughter from posting the video? The clip, the request, the repeated begging, and the family's split over it all came down to one thing, whether a private hot flash could become public content without the person in the video agreeing to it.
