PHOTOG FAILS THE WEDDING
A bride recounts hiring an expensive wedding photographer who ignored a precise shot list, missing the first kiss and key details, leaving a gallery full of misfires yet some relief.

My parents wasted $3K on the wedding photographer, and the biggest moments still never made it into the gallery.
The bride opened the rant with a joke that landed like a groan: "it probably would've been better photography if I'd strapped a GoPro to my dog." Then came the punchline she couldn't shake, "Pretty sure the dog wouldn't have missed the first kiss."
This wasn't a standard wedding, and the schedule had been laid out in painful detail because timing mattered. The photographer got that schedule. The couple gave shot lists. They explained what mattered most. They also said they were autistic and would need direction when it came time to pose.
None of that seemed to stick.
The first photo in the gallery was a picture of the shoes from the bed and breakfast, which set the tone immediately. The photographer spent time on detail shots the couple had specifically said they didn't want, and that detour came close to causing the rings to be lost before the wedding. During the ceremony, he also blocked guests' view.
Then there were the images themselves. The bride said there were off-center frames, awkward black-and-white edits, strange angles, and photos that chopped people off in awkward places. In one especially frustrating omission, the dress the bride made herself barely came through at all. "I made my dress and there are maybe 10 pictures of it," the post read, and the iridescent quality the bride loved never really showed up.
The missed moments piled up. Because the photographer hadn't followed the schedule, he had to redo both first looks with the bride's parents. The first look with the in-laws was not redone in a way that kept the mother-in-law free of her wallet and water bottle. Two requested shots never appeared at all: a photo of the bride walking down the aisle from behind, and the first kiss.
"The FIRST KISS. HE MISSED IT," the bride wrote.
The gallery also included random people in the background, since the wedding took place in a public place. By the end, the bride was trying to hold two thoughts at once: anger at how much was spent, and gratitude that there were pictures at all.
"I get that I need to be grateful that we have pictures at all," the post said. "I think that's the end of the rant. I'm going to go pet a cat or something now."
