A pregnant woman was left stranded after her boyfriend refused to accept that an ectopic pregnancy had to be ended.
The poster is 28 and has been with her boyfriend, 23, for three years. They had recently found out she was pregnant, and the news seemed straightforward at first. Then came the doctor's visit.
At the appointment, the doctor discovered the pregnancy was tubal, or ectopic, the kind that cannot continue safely. The doctor explained that it had to be ended. The boyfriend did not take it well. According to the poster, he became very upset and would not listen as the doctor laid out what could happen if it was left alone.
Before the procedure started, he pressed her with a line that turned the whole room tense: "aren't you even gonna wait a day so we can talk about this first. Don't I have any say in this."
The doctor and staff stepped out and then returned to move forward with the procedure. That was when he said he could not stay and watch. The poster believed he had only left the room. He had actually left the clinic.
After the procedure, she realized she had no ride home. She texted him asking where he was. His reply landed like a second hit: "you made this decision without me, so you can find a way home without me."
She eventually got home on her own, only to find him on the couch playing video games.
Since then, every attempt she makes to talk about what happened runs into the same wall. He says he doesn't want to hear "the medical side of it," according to the poster, and insists that "these days there's ways to save every pregnancy." He has also said, in his view, they should have waited to see if her body would reject the pregnancy on its own.
What started as pregnancy news turned into a doctor's warning, a procedure he refused to stay for, and a ride home she had to find alone. Then, back on the couch, he treated the whole ordeal as a choice she made without him.
