At 6 a.m., a wife woke up furious at her husband over something he did in her sleep: he had "made out with someone in her dream."
The morning had started in the usual chaotic way for parents of a two-year-old. The couple woke to the sound of their daughter talking to herself in her room, awake early and chatting away before sunrise. The husband said he'd go get her and kick off the day. "I'll get her and get the morning started," he told his wife.
That should have been the end of it. Instead, the wife said nothing.
She gave him a cold stare.
The husband could tell immediately that something was off, and he pushed for an answer. What had he done? Why was she looking at him like that so early in the morning?
Then she took a deep breath and delivered the charge: he had "made out with someone in her dream."
The husband's response was instant and blunt: "What the fuck."
That was the whole scandal, not an affair, not a real kiss, but a dream in which he'd somehow turned up as the offender. The wife had woken up angry anyway, and the husband had been left to deal with the fallout of a crime committed entirely in sleep.
Later, the post got a follow-up edit from the husband, who said he was surprised the story blew up. "wow wasn't expecting this to blow up," he wrote, adding thanks to everyone for their replies and stories. He said he and his wife spent the morning reading through a ton of them together over coffee.
What began as a quiet 6 a.m. family wake-up, a toddler talking to herself, a parent heading in to start breakfast and get the day moving, turned into a strange little domestic showdown, with a dream accusation, a cold stare, and one very simple defense: "What the fuck."
