The biggest bedroom in a student apartment came with a catch: no window.
That was the assignment waiting in the bottom-left corner of a 4x2 layout, where the poster ended up with the largest room in the place, and one of the only ones sealed off from daylight. The room itself sounded like a win on paper. More space. More floor. More room to spread out. But one detail changed the whole picture: there was no window at all.
The poster put the situation plainly: "I got assigned the bottom-left bedroom." Then came the part that made the setup feel less like a bonus and more like a tradeoff. "It's the biggest in the apartment, but it's one of the rooms that doesn't have a window."
So the question became simple enough to ask, but hard to ignore once it was on the table. Is a windowless bedroom really that bad?
The poster wasn't just wondering about the room's reputation. They wanted to know what life in it would actually feel like, and whether there was anything that could make it better. In the same breath, they asked for practical fixes: "what can I do to make it better?"
It's the kind of student-apartment problem that sounds minor until you picture it in real life: a large room, four walls, no view, no natural light, and all the usual dorm-and-apartment compromises packed into one space. One room in the 4x2 gets the prize of square footage. Another factor quietly takes the rest.
