A baby name suggestion turned into a quiet little disaster in three days.

A 28-year-old woman is eight months pregnant with a baby boy, and she had one very specific request: she wanted a name that was "slightly different but still timeless, cute for a baby but still good for an adult." She and her friend had been tossing ideas around, but nothing was landing.

Then the writer offered up a name out of the blue: "Timothy."

It seemed to fit the brief. The writer says they'd been avoiding three-syllable names to match the friend's other children, "Avis and Josie," and thought Timothy sat neatly beside them. The friend agreed. For a moment, it looked like the naming struggle was over.
