THE FREE PANTRY FEUD

Someone was coming over the fence and picking tomatoes and beans straight out of a private garden, and the homeowner had already tried signs, rabbit fencing, and a tarp before reaching the end of their patience.

The whole mess started with a neighbor's "little farm stand", a free pantry setup where people could take garden produce, pantry goods, or donated items. The poster said the idea was good in theory, especially because, in their words, "life in America sucks ass" and people are struggling to make ends meet.

But the stand pulled more traffic than the yard could handle. Soon, people weren't just taking from the neighbor's table. They were cutting into the poster's garden. They came right up to the fence to grab produce, and the poster said some even held children over the barrier to reach tomatoes and beans.

The poster tried to stop it every way they could think of. There were signs. There was a rabbit fence around the garden. There was even a tarp blocking the view from the road. None of it worked.

Then came the confrontation with a woman taking produce. The poster yelled, "HEy, STOP. THOSE ARE NOT FOR YOU TO TAKE." The woman allegedly kept moving, so the poster caught up with her and told her she was "STEALING from me." According to the poster, the woman fired back that the poster was swearing in front of her child and acting like it was "a couple tomatoes." Later, the poster asked, "what the fuck was her problem."

The next day, the poster went to the neighbor and asked if the stand could be moved to the other side of the driveway, near the other neighbor's house. They also asked for bigger signs and for the neighbor to actually talk to people using it. The neighbor refused to move it until the end of the season and, the poster said, responded with, "can you really not afford to share?" The poster replied, "I do not care about a solution that benefits the whole community."

That night, another person came into the garden. The poster sprayed him with the hose. The neighbor came outside and yelled at the poster too.

After that, the neighborhood board posted warnings that the poster was "an asshole," and the neighbor said the poster was scaring people away from a community resource. In a later update, the poster said local cops would not help and would laugh in their face. For now, they planned to keep putting up signs, including one warning about heavy pesticide use and another saying people were "stealing food from the mouths of hungry children." They also said they would keep looking for free fencing on Craigslist or similar sites.
