ONE BATHROOM NIGHTMARE
Three days into a one-bathroom visit, a sister and her husband stagger the home's limits, triggering a late-night showdown over space, patience, and the cost of hospitality.
Was telling them to get a hotel fair?

The house had one bathroom, and by the fourth day of the visit, the poster was getting locked out of it in their own home.
The poster's sister and her husband had traveled across the country to stay at the poster's place, a two-bedroom, one-bathroom home where a bed had been set up in the office for them. The plan was simple: they would stay for a week. But after four days, the bathroom had become the problem.
At first, the husband was spending long stretches in there. The poster brought it up with the sister after the first day, and the sister explained that he has a condition where he needs the bathroom a lot. The poster backed off and tried to make it work.
It didn't.
By day three, the poster said it had gotten worse. At one point, the poster left the house and went to the store just so they could use the bathroom twice, because he would not leave.
Then came the night that changed the tone of the whole visit.
At 4 a.m., the poster woke up badly needing the bathroom. They knocked on the bathroom door and were told he'd be out in a minute. Instead, it took an hour. The poster said they really had to go and ended up having to do something they were not happy they had to do because they couldn't wait.
The next morning, the poster finally said enough was enough. They told the husband he needed to get a hotel, because he could not keep blocking access to the bathroom in the poster's own home. The poster later said, "I get he has a condition, but so do I," and told the couple they need to leave and find a hotel or stay with other family. He just can't stay there anymore.
The sister and husband were furious. They called the poster ableist.
The poster laid out what had happened the night before and repeated that the situation could not continue. With a house that only had one bathroom, the poster said, the arrangement had stopped being workable.
The post ended with the question: "AITA for telling my sister and BIL they need to get a hotel when the plan was for them to stay with me for a week?"
