A 17-year-old's $2,000 PC was nearly turned into porch debris after a joke involving two printed memes sent his father into a rage.
The teen, who said he had been building the computer since he was 14, described the machine as his "2000$ PC." On Friday, he printed two memes to the family room printer as a prank, planning for his dad to find them later. Instead, the joke detonated.
According to the teen, his father got "OVERLY angry," screamed at him, and did it while the poster's grandma tried to calm him down. Then came the threat: the dad said he was going to throw the PC off the back porch, which the teen described as "1 story off the ground." The computer never left the house, but the threat landed hard enough to make the whole scene feel like it could happen any second.
The dad then ran back inside and kept the pressure on. The poster says he acted intimidating on the Ring floodlight camera and, in a deep voice, said, "Don't f*** with me again." The teen says he stayed as calm as he could because he was shocked.
What comes next in the story makes the damage feel bigger than the prank. The teen says he does not think his father will pay for any repairs, and he points to a pattern. A few years earlier, he says, the dad destroyed his all-in-one HP Pavilion and made the teen's mom pay for it. Now, he says, the PC may cost $800 to get "POTENTIALLY OPERATIONAL" again.
The teen also says his father has gone completely silent since the confrontation. He has only talked about it to the teen's sister and parents, which the poster thinks may be an effort to make him look like the bad guy.
The teen's post is less about the prank itself than what followed it. He says he doesn't know what to do and doesn't know where to even start. Mostly, he wants to deescalate the situation and figure out how to get his father to "start treating him like is son again."
