GARY'S TIRE TROUBLE

A neighbor's car came up with a flat tire and a missing valve stem core the morning after someone parked in front of Gary's house, and the new homeowners were already wondering if the same man had just gotten their moving-in day slapped with a city citation.

The couple had bought the house knowing the previous owner, and they also knew there had been trouble across the street with Gary. The old owner had dealt with complaints about weeds and other issues, and at first the couple assumed those complaints were probably legit. Then they started meeting the rest of the block.

By their telling, the other neighbors were all "super nice and helpful," and they quickly arrived at the same conclusion: Gary was "crazy and a big pain in the ass."

The couple spent two months renovating before moving in, and while a Waste Management dumpster bag sat out front with assorted debris, the city showed up less than a week after they arrived. A city inspector cited them for "blight" over one stray baseboard that needed to be put inside the bag.

The inspector, according to the poster, was apologetic. She said, "I can't tell you who the neighbor is, but the previous owners would have this neighbor complain a lot.. I've been to this house a lot.. I'm so sorry"

The poster checked with other neighbors, who also had stories about Gary and agreed the citation was ridiculous.

Then came the tire.

The poster's niece was staying with them, and a friend of hers spent the night. The friend parked across the street in front of Gary's house. The next morning, the front passenger tire was flat, and the valve stem core was gone. They had to go get air and have the core replaced.

When the poster told next-door neighbor Nicole, she didn't hesitate. "OMG OMG OMG that's GARY!" she said.

Nicole then described a previous incident from years earlier: Gary's next-door neighbors had an adult daughter who parked in front of his house, only to find her tire flat later, with the valve stem core missing.

Yesterday, the poster visited Nicole and her husband, and the husband had something else to add. He had taken a photo of the parked car because he thought it might belong to a VRBO down the street and worried something could happen. The picture showed the car was parked legally.

The poster says there is no proof it was Gary. But they suspect it was him, and now they want to file a police report, have police talk to Nicole and her husband, and install night vision cameras over their yard, maybe even some for Nicole's house too.

"We have no proof it was Gary, but obviously suspect it was him," the poster said. "What else should we do?"
