"She has BO," a mother told her daughter-in-law while the daughter-in-law was breastfeeding a 4-month-old baby in the middle of a family visit.
That was the moment the 29-year-old poster says everything went sideways.
He says he is usually very respectful to his parents, and this visit started like any other: his 51-year-old mom and 51-year-old dad came over to see him, his 33-year-old wife, and their infant daughter. But the wife had already had a busy day before they arrived, and when the baby needed to be fed, she began breastfeeding as the parents were there.
Then the comment landed.
According to the poster, his mom looked at his wife and told her she had BO. The wife, he says, looked hurt. The poster immediately stepped in and told his mom to leave his wife alone.
His mom didn't back off. She said she was just telling the truth.
That pushed him further. He told her, "this is my wife and I wouldn't tolerate anyone disrespecting her."
But the mom doubled down again, saying the wife stunk, bluntly, "my wife stinks," as the poster repeated it.
At that point, he lost his patience. He told his mom to "F-off" and to "get to F out of my house."
Then the visit was over. His parents left.
Now he's left with the question of whether he went too far. He says he's normally respectful to his parents, but in that moment he felt his wife had been insulted while she was already busy caring for their baby.
The story leaves him asking the internet the same blunt question: AITA for telling his mom to F-off after she told his wife she had BO while she was breastfeeding their daughter?
