The whole car-buying debate, according to one poster, comes down to two names: "Toyota or Honda", and everything else seems to be treated like a problem.

The poster says that whenever they ask what car they should get, the same answer comes back almost immediately: Toyota or Honda. Not just as a suggestion, but as the default. And right alongside that advice comes a warning label for the rest of the market: "avoid KIA/ Hyundai and pretty much anything else."

That's where the confusion sets in. If Toyota and Honda are supposedly the best, the poster wants to know why the answer doesn't stop there. Why not just buy one of those and be done with it? Why would anyone keep choosing other brands at all?

The poster pushes the question further, especially when it comes to KIA and Hyundai. If those cars are really that bad, why are people still buying them? Why do they keep showing up on roads, in driveways, and in shopping lists when the advice is so strongly against them?

They put the contradiction plainly: "if Toyota and Honda are the best why doesn't everyone just buy a Toyota or Honda?" Then they ask it again in a different way, tightening the point: "why would people still buy KIA/ Hyundais if they're that bad?" And if Toyota and Honda are the standard, then "Why should we buy any other car besides Toyota or Honda?"

The poster also says the judgment doesn't stop at the advice itself. If someone does buy a KIA or Hyundai, "you get shammed for it." So the conversation isn't just about reliability or preference, it's also about status, and about being looked at sideways for the brand parked outside.

The post ends where it began: with frustration. After laying out the same pattern over and over, Toyota or Honda as the answer, KIA and Hyundai as the warning, everything else as suspect, the poster closes with a direct plea: "I don't understand this logic someone explain."
