By the time the bride was crying outside her own reception, her high school best friend had already stormed off, her teen daughter had taken the friend's side, and the friend's mother had told her she "messed up big time." Then the afterparty blew up too.
"Long story so bare with me," the bride wrote, and the story starts months earlier, back in June, when she and her husband got engaged. They had originally wanted a courthouse wedding. Instead, they agreed to a bigger event after pressure from the mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law. The wedding was set for September, on a Friday.
Planning was rocky from the start. The mother-in-law and the bride's sister-in-law, who was also the party planner, got into a major fight. One bridesmaid, Amanda, became a problem early on. She skipped dress shopping because of money, saying she had "one paycheck (I'm a sahm)," and later objected when the bride asked the bridal party to each pick a song and do a short dance for the reception entrance.
Even a joint bachelor-and-bachelorette outing went sideways. The bride and some of the bridal party crashed the groom's bachelor party, but Amanda invited an extra friend without asking. The night still went well, but the pattern was set.
Rehearsal day brought more stress. Amanda's husband missed it because of work, though Amanda showed up. Setup and rehearsal were happening at the same time, and the whole thing turned chaotic and frustrating.
Then came wedding day. Amanda arrived late. Hair and makeup at the bride's house took all day, and they didn't leave for the venue until almost 4:30 p.m. The bride said she never got photos alone with her groom because everyone kept standing around until she had to yell at them to move.
The ceremony and reception entrance happened, but during speeches the bride realized she could not find her high school best friend, Kayla. When Kayla finally showed up, she yelled at the bride. The bride's teen daughter sided with Kayla, and the two walked outside with family members, talking about the bride.
Later, Kayla's mother confronted the bride outside and told her, "you messed up big time," said "how dare I treat kayla in such a way after everything she has been through," and added, "I should be embarrassed," that her husband deserved an apology, and that she was "such a bridezilla." The bride cried and tried to keep the night moving.
At Amanda's house afterward, the afterparty collapsed too. The bride thanked Amanda, and Amanda responded by insulting the bridesmaid dresses as "f'in ugly." Then Amanda and her husband fought and cleared everyone out.
The final blow came by text. Amanda accused the bride of "asking to her husband to let me perform sexual acts on him." The bride blocked her.
